Graduate Programs in Chemistry, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology
Degrees Offered
The Department of Chemistry, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology offers programs leading to the Master of Science (M.S.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees in either Chemistry or Biochemistry. Programs of study are individually tailored to the needs of each student. Research programs in chemistry and molecular biology encompass a broad range of chemical sciences. Many faculty have interdisciplinary research programs which either blend together the traditional divisions chemistry and molecular biology, or combine one of these divisions with those of physics, engineering, or materials.

Financial Support
Graduate Students in the Department of Chemistry and Molecular Biology are supported during both the academic year and during summer months through either teaching assistantships (TA) or research assistantships (RA). University tuition is waived for all TAs and RAs in good academic standing. Twelve-month support is guaranteed for first-year students as long as satisfactory academic progress is maintained.
Acceptance into either the Chemistry or Biochemistry graduate program is required in order to receive an assistantship through the Department of Chemistry and Molecular Biology.
