Fargo, North Dakota
Fargo lies in the heart of the Red River Valley, one of the world's richest agricultural areas. The affordability and quality of living are reflective of the neighborliness and Midwestern hospitality. Fargo, the largest city in North Dakota, and Moorhead, MN across the river, offer all the attractions and activities of the "big city" while still retaining the friendliness of a Midwestern town. Two major metropolitan centers, Winipeg, Canada, and the twin cities of Minneapolis - St. Paul, MN are within easy driving distance.
Fargo has outstanding education, employment, and cultural opportunities. Three institutions of higher education, North Dakota State University, Minnesota State University Moorhead, and Concordia College provide the Fargo-Moorhead area with a diverse student and employee population. Other employers in the area include major hospitals and clinics, software companies, light industry, and financial institutions. The area supports a variety of theatre groups such as NDSU's Little Country Theatre, the F-M Community Theatre, and the North Dakota Repertory Theatre. The F-M Symphony Orchestra and a community opera company provide musical entertainment. The visual arts are well represented at the NDSU Art Gallery, the Rourke Gallery, and the acclaimed Plains Art Museum.
Sports and outdoor recreation are an important part of life for many at NDSU. A minor league baseball team plays (The Fargo-Moorhead Red Hawks) in a stadium on campus. There are many intramural and club programs at NDSU and sponsored by the Fargo Parks and Recreation department. The Bison Sports Arena has facilities for racquetball, basketball, volleyball, tennis, and swimming. The Fargodome, a 19,000 seat indoor arena is utilized for indoor sporting events, rock concerts, and other activities.
